About the region
Southeast of Dresden, the Elbe cuts through a hundred million years of sandstone — two national parks in one landscape, Saxon Switzerland on the German side and Bohemian Switzerland across the Czech border. Close enough that one day trip from Dresden covers the best of both. The four places below are the reason people come.

A stone bridge strung between sandstone towers, 194 metres above the Elbe and 40 minutes from Dresden. Arrive before ten — as we do — and Saxony’s most photographed view is nearly empty.

The largest natural sandstone arch in Europe and the landmark of Bohemian Switzerland. The trail climbs through the forest to viewpoints beneath the arch.

A labyrinth of rock towers you walk through rather than look at — the backdrop of The Chronicles of Narnia. Children treat it as a natural playground.

A mossy canyon on the Kamenice river, crossed by punt boat with a local ferryman — the same way since 1898. Boats run April to October.
Why go with us
An honest comparison. For some trips it makes sense — for this one, less than people expect.
day ticket + lunch, per person
The S-Bahn reaches Rathen and Bad Schandau, so Bastei on its own is doable. The Czech side and the boats stay out of reach in a day.
per car — parking, entries & lunch on top
Gets you everywhere, if you are up for driving and parking in two countries — Bastei's car parks are often full by 10 a.m.
per person — all-in
Picked up at your hotel, both countries in one day, nothing left to organise or pay on the day.
The real math
Doing it by rental car costs ~€100/person once you add fuel, parking, park entries, and lunch. For just €29 more, Saxon Tours gives you zero planning stress, a local guide, and hotel pickup.

“Saxon Tours was built around one region we know by heart. Every trip on this page is one we designed ourselves and guide every week — I grew up in these valleys, and so did the rest of the team.”
