How much does a day trip from Dresden cost?
Shared small-group day trips start from €129 per person. The price for your date and group size is shown before booking. Hotel pickup, an English-speaking guide, lunch and the entry fees for your chosen itinerary are included. For the private sightseeing transfer to Prague, select your group size to see the total price.
Can I get to Saxon Switzerland from Dresden by train or car instead?
You can. The S-Bahn takes you to Rathen or Bad Schandau and from there it is a walk up to Bastei. What it will not do is get you across the border to Pravčická Gate and the Tisá Rocks in the same day — those need a car, and the Czech trailheads are poorly served by public transport. That is the gap our trips fill.
Which trip should I choose if it is my first visit?
From April to October, choose the Bohemian & Saxon Switzerland day trip for Bastei Bridge, Pravčická Gate and the Tisá Rocks. For a boat ride instead of visiting the arch, choose Bastei, Boat & Narnia. From November to March, choose our winter day trip to Bastei and the Tisá Rocks.
How far is Saxon Switzerland from Dresden?
Closer than most people expect. Bastei Bridge is about 40 minutes from the city centre, the Tisá Rocks 50 minutes, and the Czech side of the park a little over an hour. Driving time is never more than about 40 minutes between stops.
Which trip involves the least walking?
Our winter day trip from November to March focuses on Bastei and the Tisá Rocks, with shorter walks. Both summer day trips involve walking and climbs: one visits Pravčická Gate, while the boat itinerary includes a descent into the gorge and an uphill walk back. If you are unsure which route suits you, tell us about your walking needs before booking.
Is this suitable for children, or for older travelers?
Yes, with the right trip. Families usually take the boat trip — the ferryman is the part children remember and the Tisá rock labyrinth is a natural playground. For anyone worried about the climbing, the winter trip and the sightseeing transfer stay on easy ground throughout.
What happens if the weather is bad?
The trips run in rain, and the sandstone looks its best in mist. Your guide adjusts the route to the conditions — that is the advantage of going with someone who walks these trails year-round. Only genuinely unsafe conditions cancel a departure, and then you get a full refund or a new date.
What else is worth visiting from Dresden?
Meissen (porcelain old town, 30 minutes by train), Moritzburg Castle and the Königstein fortress are all easy half-days you can manage on your own. We only guide the national parks — that is the one place around Dresden where a local guide genuinely changes the day.
How big are the groups?
Never more than 10 people. You can always hear the guide, we stop where you want a photo, and the pace bends to the group instead of the other way round.
