Rising 16 meters high and 26 meters wide, the Pravčická Gate is the largest natural sandstone arch in Europe – a spectacular symbol of Bohemian Switzerland National Park.
Millions of years of erosion and weathering sculpted this incredible formation. Standing beneath it feels like entering a fairytale – and it’s no coincidence that scenes from The Chronicles of Narnia were filmed right here.
The nearby Falcon’s Nest chateau, built in 1881, adds charm and history to the site. From the viewpoints, visitors can admire the endless forests and cliffs stretching to Saxon Switzerland.
How to Reach Pravčická Gate
Pravčická Gate is located about 3 km from the village of Hřensko. It can only be reached on foot — the scenic hike takes around 45 minutes uphill through sandstone cliffs and forest trails.
Along the way, you’ll find several panoramic points that reveal breathtaking views of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains. The area is accessible from both Dresden and Prague, making it a perfect one-day escape into nature.
