What an amazing day! This may have been the best part of our entire vacation. We are traveling with our two teens and for all of you parents reading this…they didn’t complain at all! ???? There was just the right amount of challenge to the hikes and the lunch was delicious. The views were breathtaking. Unfortunately the boat tour wasn’t an option (no fault of the tour guides - the park was temporarily closed) but we don’t feel like we missed out on anything.
Our tour guide Joseph was phenomenal! So knowledgeable and also a lot of fun and very friendly! The walk to the boat ride was very challenging- 1.5 miles down mostly steep stairs and then same back up. I’m 60 and in average condition. I did it but had to rest many times on way back up. Very glad to have taken the Bastei Bridge tour and boat ride, even though very challenging.
My husband and I took this trip along with 4 people from Germany. Since we have been spending a lot of time in cities, it was a great day to enjoy the beautiful Saxon Switzerland area. We started with a visit to Bastei, which is breathtaking. After visiting all of the viewpoints, we drove to Czechia for a traditional lunch. We had our choice of the menu. The lunch was very plentiful and was quite good. Then we walked down a steep trail (well-marked with hand rails) for a ride on a boat through the Kamenice Gorge. While we all dreaded the climb back up, it wasn't as bad as we thought it would be, and my husband and I are in our 70's. Both Milan and our guide Jitka were super and provided a great experience! They both gave us personal attention and wanted us all to really enjoy ourselves, which we did!
