It rises to a height of 305 meters (1,000 feet) and is considered to be the majestic throne above the Elbe River. In 1851, on the site of the former wooden bridge, a sandstone bridge was exhibited here as the world's first tourist attraction

The region, with its rock pillars up to 30 m high, is one of the major tourist attractions and is also known for filming scenes in the film series 'The Chronicles of Narnia'.
